RALEIGH, NC – National educational experts and policy leaders will join North Carolina leaders to discuss how teacher quality impacts educational outcomes at the 29th annual Emerging Issues Forum: Teachers and the Great Economic Debate on February 10-11, 2014 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Each year NCSU’s Institute for Emerging Issues host national and international leaders to discuss a public policy topic. This year’s Forum, Teachers and the Great Economic Debate, brings experts with divergent points of view to examine this topic. In addition, over 150 k-12 educators and administrators from across North Carolina will be active members of the discussion as “Teacher Ambassadors” and education representatives due to the generous funding from the Belk Foundation and the Goodnight Foundation.

“At NCSU, we want to encourage research and open discussion of topics that impact our world,” said Chancellor Woodson.

Research has proven that highly effective educators better prepare students for higher education and the workforce. Forum attendees will participate in discussion and develop action items for North Carolina.

“Each year, IEI has identified a topic that has meaning and directly relates to North Carolina’s economic competitiveness. Highly effective teachers have a direct and lasting impact on our state’s economy,” said Anita Brown-Graham, director of the Institute for Emerging Issues.

Although the Forum is sold out, live streaming is available from the IEI website at
