Project manager for the Yorkshire and Humber Sanctuary Maternity Stream

The Yorkshire and Humber Maternity Stream of the City of Sanctuary is looking to appoint a person to lead the project

The City of Sanctuary is a national organisation building a culture of hospitality for people seeking sanctuary in the UK. Our goal is to create a network of towns and cities throughout the country which are proud to be places of safety for people seeking sanctuary and helping them integrate into their local communities.

The Yorkshire and Humber Maternity Stream of the City of Sanctuary is a registered charity made up of a network of people/ groups, including service users, refugee organisations, charities, commissioners, service providers, researchers and educators. Their aim is to improve maternity services for asylum seeking and refugee (AS&R) women by:

·  Breaking down barriers to AS&R women accessing maternity services.

·  Ensuring that maternity carers are knowledgeable about AS&R women's needs and how they can be met.

·  Providing opportunities for AS&R women to influence policy direction by voicing their experiences of maternity services with local providers and commissioners.

Terms & Conditions
The total fee available is £3640 to be worked 7 hours per week for 40 weeks on a freelance basis to be negotiated with the successful applicant. You will mainly work from home with attendance at meetings and site visits.

Role Description

·  Organise and attend bi-annual regional Maternity Stream meetings

·  Offer advice to existing Maternity Stream groups within Yorkshire and Humber

·  Work with the management committee to set appropriate targets for the project

·  Work with local City of Sanctuary groups to develop new Maternity Stream groups

·  Engage and communicate with maternity services in Yorkshire and the Humber, assisting and assessing applicants in achieving the Maternity SOS award

·  Liaise with volunteers, including AS&R women to arrange face to face training for applicants if required

·  Organise and manage quarterly Maternity stream meetings in Bradford and Leeds

·  Participate in social events to encourage women to make friends and support each other

·  Liaise with current AS&R women support groups to inform them of entitlements and the services that they are able to access

·  Maintain and build the website and social media. Share contemporary and evidence based resources on our website aimed at professionals and AS&R women.

·  Assist in writing reports and publications related to the project when requested

·  Apply for funding to extend the project

·  Provide quarterly updates to the National City of Sanctuary

·  Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Maternity Stream management committee including attending relevant training events.
