Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)

Your son or daughter is enrolled in Spanish III Honors, at PHUHS. In my effort to go GREEN and protect our environment, I have posted my beginning of the year notices on this site. I urge you to discuss the Class Rules, Course Syllabus and Grading System I have presented on this web site.

Spanish is spoken in the class at all levels and students are encouraged to respond using their newly acquired skills in Spanish. Written homework, speakingpractice and/or study activitiesare given daily. All students must copy assignments posted daily, listing oral and written work. I ask you to play an active role in this learning process by encouraging daily study and review of the subject matter. I welcome your involvement and cooperation in helping your child to be successful.

It is imperative that the students keep up with the large volume of new material covered, in order to achieve mastery. I advise students to study at least fifteen minutes daily, after completing the homework. The work is not complete until the student has made sure he/she understands everything. In case your child needs extra help, I have a weekly tutoring session for those students who need reinforcement. Please, encourage your child to attend these sessions as necessary.

As our school and district are under a strict budget, there will be many activities on the internet. The expectation is that students will have access to a computer at home and will be able to submit work on-line. If this is not possible your son or daughter should plan to do the computer work during their lunch or before and after school. Please let me know so I can be available to supervise in my class.

In order to establish a line of communication at the beginning of the year, please considerdownloading the REMIND application. This will enable me to communicate with you more effectively to share important information concerning assignments and scheduled evaluations. The instructions are in the PDF file which is the following link.

If you have any concerns please e-mail me so together we may address those issues.

With your help, learning Spanish can be a fun and rewarding experience! Thank you for your active participation.

Sincerely,

Leni W. Fernández
