National Black MBA Association Atlanta Chapter Hosts Its
27thAnnual Scholarship Luncheon
ATLANTA, October 25, 2011 – Recognizing high school and college students for their outstanding achievements, The National Black MBA Association Atlanta Chapter will celebrate its 27thAnniversary Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, November 11th from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.
"PowerUp Your Education!" is the theme for the program in which over $15,000 in scholarships will be awarded to high school, undergraduate, MBA and PhD students. In addition, corporate partners and a selected “Education Partner of the Year” will be recognized.
The NBMBAA's Scholarship Program has been in existence since 1982 and has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships over the years. The NBMBAA, Atlanta Chapter is proud to continue its tradition of supporting deserving students as they aspire to reach their goal for higher education.
Hostess for the luncheon will be Shirley Strawberry, morning radio personality and co-host of “The Steve Harvey Morning Show”. Adding to the excitement of the program will be actor and activist Lamman Rucker providing keynote address. Lamman’s commitment to promoting a positive message started while in high school when he was anoriginal member of the groundbreaking youth company - the Washington Area Improvisational Teen Theatre (W.A.I.T.T.), whose primary goal was to promote sexual abstinence to teens and educate young people about their bodies. He continues his mission as an activist and spokesperson for several non-profit organizations and community action initiatives including BET's Rap-It-Up campaign and The Magic Johnson Foundation.
As an accomplished actor Rucker has starred in several Tyler Perry productions, which includes the hit TV show “Meet the Browns” and motion pictures“Why Did I Get Married” and “Why Did I Get Married Too.”

Established in 1970, the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) is a non-profit organization of African-America MBAs, business professionals, entrepreneurs and MBA students. The NBMBAA Atlanta Chapter,the largest chapter with more than 1,400 members, focuses programming on three channels of engagement: Education, Career Advancement and Entrepreneurship.
