National Art Honor Society

Congratulations on being accepted into the National Art Honor Society! The following information pertains to the induction ceremony that will be held in the G.I. room. Please check the school calendar for the official date and time.

The Induction Night – Tuesday March 22nd 2016 – 7 PM – GI Room

  • Your parents will receive a formal invitation from YOU. Please invite any friends, relatives or siblings to come along and watch the induction ceremony!
  • You will line up in alphabetical order and quietly walk into the G.I. Room after everyone has been seated. Each student will have up to 6 of their best works displayed. (Sculpture students will display less work to fit on or near 2 pedestals. Work will be put up during your art class the day before… YOU are in charge of this)
  • Students will sit in two rows of chairs up front, facing the audience. Artwork will be behind them. A table with two candles will be at the center of the room.
  • The art chairpersonwill speak first.
  • Opening announcements will then be made by a Senior A.P. art student, and two candles will be lit.
  • The inductees, (that’s you!), will then be asked to read a quote from an artist they have previously chosen, (one at a time). You will stand up at your chair and read the quote you have printed, including the artist quoted. You will then sit back down.
  • When everyone is done reciting quotes, we will begin the candle lighting ceremony. Everyone will reach under their chair and find their candle. One by one, the flame will get passed down the line and each student will light the candle of the student next to them… until all students are standing with a lit candle.
  • The senior student who made the opening announcements will then recite a pledge, and line-by-line, all inductees will recite the pledge in unison.
  • I then need three or four students to volunteer for the next part! Each volunteer will stand next to their art work and speak briefly about their work… what inspires them, what mediums they like to work with, etc. Please speak to me a.s.a.p. if you are interested in showing off your work!
  • Mr. Booth and Ms. Albaneze will distribute the certificates.
  • Refreshments will be served and everyone involved may stay and view the artwork in detail.

So what do you have to do???

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING DUE DATES
