Chartering a

Student Organization

Any student(s) interested in starting a new student organization at Cabrillo College will need to complete the following:

1.  Recruit and have a minimum of six (6) club members to fill all executive board positions. The six (6) club members must be concurrent enrolled Cabrillo College students who have a current Student Activity card. One individual cannot fill more than one executive position in the club.

2.  Recruit one or more club advisor(s). All clubs must have at least one club advisor to be actively involved supporting the club’s goals and activities by being physically present at club meetings, events and assisting you with club manners.

a.  Club advisor(s) must be a Cabrillo College employee such as classified staff, faculty member or administrator.

b.  Club Advisor(s) must complete and sign the club advisor agreement form and charter requirement form.

c.  Completed advisor agreement form & charter requirement form must be submitted to the Activities Coordinator at the Student affairs Office located at SAC East building, which is right above the bookstore.

3.  Arrange a meeting place/ location.

Advisors must make all rooms reservation! Ability will vary.

4.  Complete your club’s charter application online

5.  Submit via e-mail a completed written club’s constitution to the Student Activities Coordinator (ICC Advisor) via email at

Club’s constitution must be reviewed and approved by ICC advisor, Club’s Advisor and Club’s executive board. Please use sample constitution for convenience and guidance.

6.  ICC meetings on Wednesdays at 3.00 P.M. located in SAC East.

ICC 1st meeting: Introduce your club and yourself at the first ICC meeting. Give a brief description of your club vision and goals. Your ICC representative is expected to attend ALL weekly ICC meetings to represent your club and maintained an active student organization status. The club’s charters will be revoked if ICC representative is absent 3 ICC meetings in one semester or if absent in two consecutive meetings. Please make proper arrangements for an alternative ICC representative to attend ICC meetings to avoid absences that may result to loosing club’s charter.

7.  Club’s current website information. All clubs are required and responsible to keep their basic club information updated on the web throughout the semester. Please complete the provided template and email to . Students who are interested in joining your club will refer to this information to contact information on the website for club's meeting location, days, times and contact email. If any of the club's information changes throughout the semester it is the club's responsibility to update the template form and email it to .

8.  Arrange to meet with student Activities Coordinator to get access to club’s resources and information. Please e-mail your available dates and time at . It will be ideal for the Student Activities Coordinator to be invited to meet with your executive board during your club meeting for about 15 minutes. J
