Hotel Rwanda

  1. The Paul’s attitude never change in the movie but at the begging of the movie the Paul acting like a selfish person like at the begging he was just giving more important to his family members instead of others but as a the situation become for dangerous then he had given them all his personal belongings to save not only his family but all the people that were in the hotel. One important example of this be when his family received their visa but he decided to stay behind because to help other peoples.
  2. The rights of Tutsis were being violated because the Hutus wanted to remove the Tutsis from Rwanda, cleansing the area of the minority of the Tutsis. They were able to tell who was who, just from the different appearances between the Tutsis and the Hutus. Basically it was the Hutus against the Tutsis and it became a massacre, known as the Rwandan genocide. Paul has a Tutsi wife, but he is a Hutu himself. They have three kids and he owns a hotel called Hôtel des Mille Collines. Tutsis came to him for shelter knowing that his wife is one also, and would be willing to provide the help. U.N. tried to help, but they pulled out once things escalated too much. Paul having the refugees in his hotel feels responsible for them, knowing that he could help them.
  3. His level of empowerment was solidify because when the hotel owners put him in charge then at that moment he took control and did whatever he could do to save them. He remained calm, cool and collected and never tries to give up. He took the reputation of the hotel seriously and in many ways this reputation is what saved them. The soldiers did not attack the hotel because they thought that there were actual hotel guests staying there. This is what saved them.
  4. If I was witnessing any injustice then first to all I honestly feel really bad about it because injustice is not a good thing to have because it creates a lot of problems in the word and also many times because to that many people cause a death. Yes, I would try my best to stop that injustice when it was happening because if you did not try to stop it then thousands of people going to die everyone minute and also we can’t find the problem solution without stopping it. So basically I only want to say that if you see any injustice around you then please try to stop at once because if you stop that at once maybe because of that we can save more people from die.
  5. We can learn a lot of things from it like we can learn that everyone is created equal, and so we should treat others as they are. We have to respect other people, no matter what they look like, where they are from, what they believe in, and who they hang out with. Not everyone in the word is a good person, but we should try out best to replace those who aren't. Like Paul from Hotel of Rwanda when he took care of the Tutsis, even though he didn't have to, when the Hutus were after them.
  6. The Catholic Social teaching principle of the option for the poor teaches us about the option for the Poor and Vulnerable. So basically they tell us that a basic moral test is how our most vulnerable members are faring. In a society marred by deepening divisions between rich and poor, our tradition recalls the story of the Last Judgment (Mt 25:31-46) and instructs us to put the needs of the poor and vulnerable first. It also teaches us that it is our responsibility as a society to help those in need, regardless of their ethnic background.
  7. So basically the government is accountable for the actions and inaction of the media. But the media did nothing special instead of making a show of the tragedy that was taking place in Rwanda, in its place of urging society to take against the atrocities that were taking place in this troubled country.
