If you are anaffiliatepresident, you received a separate email from me with a schedule forweeklytouch base calls with me. Please let me know if you need to change the days/times of these 15 minute calls.

We had a display at the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Board of GA (ADACBGA)Conference this week. Thank you to those who volunteered their time at the event. We made some great new contacts at the event who may become partners in the future and can provide more resources for our members and families. For those of you who attended our conference in Savannah this past April, Kelly Moselle from ADACBGA was a guest speaker there.

NAMI Georgia depends on, and truly appreciates all of our volunteers who help out in the office and at events. We will have 2 Volunteer Orientation sessions coming up in June. The dates are June 24 and June 27, from10:30 - 12:00. Please let your members know. Please email o RSVP.

Advocacy​

NAMI BOD Elections: PLEASE VOTE

Please join us on a conference call to discuss the upcoming NAMI National BOD election. The call information is:

It is the hope/goal of the NAMI Georgia BOD that allAffiliatesvote in the NAMI BOD election. We look to assistAffiliatesleaders in the voting process by:

1. Educating and helping you with the new electronic voting process - DEADLINE6/28 at

NOON(Contact:)

2. Holding a caucus via conference call on6/20 at 7 pmto discuss issues (note - we can not discuss(endorse) specific candidates).

3. Encouraging and following up withAffiliatesto ensure they vote.

4. NAMI Georgia and our Board of Directors support the Public Policy Platform of NAMI National. We feel the NAMI National BOD should be comprised of qualified individuals working together to support NAMI's mission to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and their families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

Voting opened in late May and will continue onsite onJune 30at the NAMI Convention in Washington, DC.

The 5 candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to the NAMI Board of Directors.

The announcement will be made at the Annual Meeting onJuly 1.

Please encourage everyone to vote!

NAMI Walks

  • Note to theaffiliatesbelow. Please remember to turn in your 2017 NAMIWalks agreements and to register for theAtlanta NAMIWalk.
  • We have met with some of you during your monthly meetings and will be continue to set up times to come to your member meetings to talk about NAMIWalks. Please let us know when your meetings are and we will do our best to be there.
  • Look for more information about the NAMIWalks kickoff -August 18.

There will be a 16 hour class on Introduction to Behavioral Health and Addictive Disease. This class will be held here at the NAMI Georgia Office onJune 19-20 from8:00 - 5:00each day. No need to RSVP or register. Just come!
