GUIDING QUESTIONS

□ I have looked at the old and new standards in my content area.

□ I have identified standards in my old curriculum I no longer am responsible to teach.

□ I have identified standards in my new curriculum I am responsible for teaching for the first time ever.

□ I understand what I am supposed to teach for the 2011-2012 school year.

□ I have identified a list of resources I currently have that will help me prepare students for learning the new curriculum.

□ I have identified a list of resources I need in order to teach the new curriculum.

□ Now that I have reviewed my new curriculum, I am ready to plan my pacing for the first nine weeks.

□ I have a working document that can serve as my first nine week pacing guide for teaching the new curriculum.

Culminating Activity: Several examples of pacing guides have been provided. Choose one document that best fits your learning/teaching style or you may design your own for this activity. This should be a plan of how you will cover the Essential Standards to Core Curriculum per nine weeks.

As you look at what you have taught the first nine weeks and compare it to the new curriculum, complete a rough draft pacing guide utilizing the new standards.

It will be a work in progress throughout this school year, and we may all be asked to transfer final work on a universal template/pacing guide.

Please submit a copy of your work to your session facilitator as your “ticket out the door.”
