Jan. 9th-20 Recognize Fiction vs. Non-Fiction. Recognize a fairytale. Stories include- Little Red Hen, 3 Little Kittens, Little Red Riding Hood, Aesop’s Fable, and Nursery Rhymes. Rhyming is a core essential for Kindergarten.

Guided reading goal- To provide students with experiences across a wide range of fiction vs. Non-Fiction Texts.

Quarter 3 Begins Jan. 24th I can read 48 sight words. I can name all the letters in the alphabet upper case and lower case and the sounds they make including short and long vowels.

I can write letters in response to sound. Example I give them the sound of S and they write an S. I can identify the main topic in a text.

I can read a text and answer questions about the story.

I can write the sequence of events from a story (3 sentences) using details. This includes spelling sight words correctly. Proper punctuation, capitals, & spacing.

Reading at level C by the end of third quarter.

3rd quarter begins Jan. 24th and will include more addition and subtraction with higher numbers. I can find the answer when 2 groups are added together ( higher numbers). I can figure out how many are added to a group when I know how many in all. I can figure out how many I started with when I know how many are added and how many in all.

Count to 75 by 1’s and to 100 by 10’s.

I can count up to 15 objects and write corresponding number.

I can take a numbers from 11 to 19 and break it apart in different ways.

I can figure out how many more I need when I know that I have 10 in all.

Tell the difference in 2 objects using length, height, size,etc.

Social Studies will include MLK Jr.
