MUSIC GRADE 6 SYLLABUS 2010-2011
Welcome to music class! This year we will be studying musical notation and rhythms throughout the world. In addition we will read musical notation and rhythms in order to perform songs on the keyboards in class.
In order to start this year off right, please read the following procedures for music class. Please be sure to check the General Music WIKI page at woodlawnms.bcps.org for updates!
Sign and date the attached sheet and return to Mrs. Ziemski the next class period for 10 points.
Folders 5points per drill every class period
Drill folders will be disturbed and kept in class. All drills will be kept in the folder as well as class work. Folders will be checked and graded daily.
If you are absent and miss a drill, it is your responsibility to make it up so that points will not be lost.
Participation 10 points per day
To achieve 10 points per day all students must
Participate in the activity of the day (playing an instrument/keyboard)
BE ON TIME for class
Be respective, responsible and safe to the teacher and the students at all time
Test/quizzes varyingpoints 10-20 points per test/quiz
Students will be tested on units we have learned and on keyboard techniques
Keyboard Projects varying points 20+
Various graded projects throughout the year will be announced.
Worksheets/handouts 10 to 30 points per handout
Students will be given various handouts that will be discussed in class.
Worksheets attached to these handouts will be graded and placed in the folder. If a student is absent they must obtain the work that they missed. If a student fails to do so, the grade for the missing handout will be a zero.
