Two driven young ladies just entering high school take it upon themselves to make changes around their school. It may be a long shot but they take the risk anyway and present it to the school’s officials. In the end they are praised for their efforts and respected by their peers – a great lesson for any young person.

Director : Félix Zurita 29.45 min) Documentary This critical mass of young persons for the rights of children in Nicaragua leaves no stone unturned – they are organized, focused and determined. From an old radio station they carry out their weekly broadcasts to inform citizens of their agenda. An amazing example of what young persons can do when they work together.

This is an amazing account of a small mountain town seemingly investing much of its resources (human and material) to the socialization of a little girl with Down's syndrome. This truly speaks to the adage. ‘It takes a village to raise a child’.
High Grade Jamaica
Director : Tony Robinson. (70 mins) Fiction
High Grade tells about life in the ghetto through the eyes of a young man who faces the challenges of peer pressure from friends involved in violence and drugs while he battles with the pain brought by the death of his mother. He is forced between staying in school to pursue career aspirations, or giving into despair and helplessness by turning to the way of the gun. The drama has a subplot surrounding the issue of HIV/AIDS.

As a young woman waits in front of a prison for her father to be released, she recalls a series of events which dismantled their once perfect family structure – from her mother suddenly passing away to her father demonstrating abusive behavior which leads to the death of her younger brother. Back and forth in her mind she is hard pressed whether she is to forgive and reunite with her father.

A young Muslim girl finds her first day in a new school to be challenging because of the customary hijab she wears. Eventually her transition is one of ridicule to acceptance amongst the school children.

A family moves into a small town outside of Havana and their son quickly builds a friendship with the neighbor’s little daughter and they became inseparable. Eventually, the new family leaves for another country and the strong friendship is ended.

A mother is in a situation where she and her young daughter are HIV positive whereas her eight year old son is not. This documentary shares a mother’s plight of addressing the stigma that is associated with the disease not only for herself but also her daughter in the school environment
