MUCHEA SHEEP REPORT 5th JULY 2016

The numbers this week at Muchea fell slightly by 429 head to see a total yarding of 8,790 head of which 5428 were lambs and 2179 ewe mutton.

All trade buyers were in attendance and operating and all graziers and re-stockers keen to secure buys.

Lambs today closed slightly easier on heavy drafts by $2.00 to $4.00 to sell to $117 to the trade. Medium trade lambs closed equal as did light trade and stores. Light stores continued to attract good buyer attention and closed fully equal.

A very good select line of trade mutton saw this section close very strong with excellent results higher by $4.00 to $8.00 to sell between $96.50 and $113.00. Boner and trade weights followed this trend and rose also by $3.00 to $6.00.Graziers kept a good floor on lighter lines and good returns continued.

Ewe hoggets were in better supply today and saw trade buyer secure good lines up to $95.00, fully equal to last sale at the venue and sold from $81.00 for trade weights.Store and light weight drafts also closed fully equal with good support.

Wethers were lacking last week’s quality but with the market remaining strong still sold well up to $106.00 with graziers and one exporter operating.

Rams again this week met strong support and sold to $95.00.
