Project Purpose
The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) is offering districts the opportunity to receive technical assistance for one selected school within the district on the implementation of the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports (NJTSS) framework.The NJDOE will award this opportunity to a total of two schools within the state based on their completion of the attached application.
Schools participating in the NJTSStechnical assistance project will receive the following:
- 10-daycustomized technical assistance for theschool leadership team working in oneelementary or middle school;
- Coaching for the school leadership team regarding implementation of the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports, a framework for prevention, intervention and enrichment based on models of Response to Intervention and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support;
- Capacity-buildingactivities for the school leadership team that includes framework evaluation, implementation plan development, initiative data collection, and professional development planning.
All project activities will be conducted at no cost to the district. Districts will have free access to all resources provided in this project.
School districts, charter schools and renaissance school projects that are interested in participating in this project should complete the technical assistance application by April 20, 2018and submit to .

Participation in the NJTSS technical assistance project requires a strong commitment on the part of the district to implement the NJTSS framework and providecoaching for school staff. In order to maximize the benefit to students in the district and ensure effective and sustained implementation of NJTSS, applicant districts (and applicant charter schools or renaissance school projects) must agree to the following:
- Work with the NJTSS Consultantto implement project activities;
- Selectone elementary or middle schoolto participate in project activities;
- Identify a school leadership team that will be available to participate in thecustomized technical assistance activities;
- Demonstrate a willingness to sustain NJTSS implementation beyond the project term.
The New Jersey Department of Education may terminate assistance if it is deemed by theNJDOE that the applicant is not fulfilling the requirements of the project as specified in the approved project application.
The NJTSS-ER Leadership Teamwill not discriminate against anyone regarding race, gender, national origin, color, disability, or age.Funds are used to supplement and not supplant any funds currently being used to provide services and grant dollars will be administered by the appropriate fiscal agent.
