I am writing to express interest in a nurse extern position at Temple University Hospital. I attend the information session you provided on the externship and impressed with the program and opportunity being offered. I am currently a sophomore (or junior) level baccalaureate nursing student at Temple University. My anticipated date of graduation is May 2014 (15).
It is my goal to become a nurse extern at Temple University Hospital. Temple University Hospital has a reputation for outstanding nursing care and would be the ideal place for me to develop my skills as a professional nurse. As a nursing student I have had the opportunity to do clinical on a number of units at Temple Hospital. These experiences have been outstanding and have contributed greatly to my development as a nurse. (for sophomores….you will be at Temple Hospital for a seven week rotation). The cultural diversity and high acuity level of patients makes Temple Hospital the ideal place for me to work and grow as a professional nurse.
My clinical experiences thus far have taught me how to plan and organize care, work with people from diverse backgrounds, and gain a greater understanding of the role of the professional nurse.
I have acquired skills in patient assessment and gained a solid foundation in providing holistic care that focuses on all aspects of a person’s health: emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychosocial. I have successfully demonstrated competency in many nursing skills and have been complimented by faculty on my excellent patient care and solid communication skills.
I am passionate about nursing. I would be honored and excited to be a part of your team and contribute to quality patient care. My enclosed resume provides further information regarding my qualifications and experiences.
