Mrs. Vertich’s Test Correction Policy

Every student has the opportunity to complete test corrections for every unit test they take (exceptions are the midterm and final exam). Test corrections must be completed within one week of the original test being returned. The grade that a student can receive is the highest grade in the next grade level above the one the student received on the original test. Up to 10 points will be added to the original test grade such that the next grade level is earned. The chart below illustrates the highest grade a student can receive after completing test corrections:

Original Test Grade / Highest Possible Test Grade
F (59 and below) / 70
F (60-69) / 76
D (70-76) / 84
C (77-84) / 92
B (85-92) / 100
A (93-100) / 100
Extra credit will not be given or considered in the new score. / Cannot exceed 100

Below is the procedure to follow in order to get credit for test corrections:

1. All test corrections must be completed with a chemistry teacher; if you choose to stay with Mr. George, you must get permission from him personally first and notify me of the day you are staying with him. If not staying with me, I will personally take your test to either Mr. Bragg or Mr. George. The original test must NOT leave the teacher’s classroom.

2. Do corrections on a clean sheet of notebook paper, separate from your test.

3. Redo the problems you missed correctly. For math calculations you must rework the entire problem from the beginning. YOU MUST SHOW ALL OF YOUR WORK!!

a. If there is no work for a problem, you have to explain to me how

you arrived at the correct answer. (i.e. how to do the problem,

describe calculator steps, etc).

AND…

b. Explain to me;

(for multiple choice) – why the other options cannot be the

correct answer.

(for math calculations) – why you think you

got the problem wrong (i.e., wrong mathematical operation,

incorrectly set up the equation, etc)

(for all others) – why you think you missed the original question

**Explanations must be in complete sentences in order to receive credit.***

You can only raise your grade up to the next letter grade; refer to the table above. You must redo ALL of the problems you missed in order to be brought up to the next letter grade (a maximum of 10 points will be given) and follow the above steps correctly. You are allowed to use a textbook or notes, but all work must be authentically yours. Academic honor code applies.
