Monday- Black

·  Vocabulary Unit 2- Mime in a Box

o  Listen to song and watch the video 1 time

o  Listen to song, filling in missing lyrics- vocabulary words

§  AV1. I can define the meaning of unknown words by using context clues and the author’s use of definition, restatement and example.

RP1. I can establish and adjust purposes for reading, including to find out, to understand, to interpret, to enjoy and to solve problems.

RP6. I can answer literal, inferential, evaluative and synthesizing questions to demonstrate comprehension of grade-appropriate print texts and electronic and visual media.

RP7.I can monitor own comprehension by adjusting speed to fit the purpose, or by skimming, scanning, reading on, looking back, note taking or summarizing what has been read so far in text

Tuesday- Gold Day

·  Warm- Up: Vocabulary synonyms and antonyms

AV3. I can identify analogies and other word relationships, including synonyms and antonyms, to determine the meaning of words.

·  Finish Wayside with partners- Students will be noting the conflicts taking place in the novel and the type of conflict that occurs

RA-LT1. I can analyze the techniques authors use to describe characters, including narrator or other characters’ point of view; character’s own thoughts, words or actions.

RA-LT2. I can identify the features of setting and explain their importance in literary text.

RA-LT3. I can identify the main and minor events of the plot, and explain how each incident gives rise to the next.

·  Warm-Up: Vocabulary fix the mistake

·  Watch Wayside School video clips and complete a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the book with the movie

RP3. I can make critical comparisons across texts, noting author’s style as well as literal and implied content of text.

Friday

·  The Week in Rap Video and Challenge questions

·  Work on folders if time permits- vocabulary activities, SADDR character activity, create your own school, conflict chart; I can analyze the techniques authors use to describe characters, including narrator or other characters’ point of view; character’s own thoughts, words or actions, I can identify the features of setting and explain their importance in literary text, I can identify the main and minor events of the plot, and explain how each incident gives rise to the next, I can define the meaning of unknown words by using context clues and the author’s use of definition, restatement and example; I can apply knowledge of connotation and denotation to determine the meaning of words.
