MRI abnormalities using Kidokoro’s scoring

Kidokoros scoring method:

Objective scoring was done for cerebral white matter, cortical grey matter, deep grey matter and cerebellar abnormalities as depicted in Table below. Cerebral WM abnormalities were graded from 0 to 4 for the variable WM cystic changes; 0 to 2 for myelination delay and corpus callosal thinning; 0 to 3 for signal abnormality, dilated lateral ventricles (LV) and volume reduction. The cortical grey matter (CGM) abnormalities were graded from 0 to 4 for the variable signal abnormality; 0 to 2 for gyral maturation; 0 to 3 for increased extracerebral space. Deep grey matter (DGM) abnormalities and cerebellar abnormalities were graded as 0 to 4 for signal abnormality and 0 to 3 for volume reduction. The total cerebral scores for WM were classified into 4 grades: no (total score, 0-2), mild (total score, 3-4), moderate (total score 5-6) or severe (total score ≥ 7) WM abnormality. Total CGM, DGM and cerebellar scores were also categorized into 4 grades: no (total score 0), mild (total score 1), moderate (total score 2) and severe (total score ≥ 3) abnormality. The total scores computed were graded as normal (scores 0-3), mild (scores 4-7), moderate (8-11) and severe (≥12).
