Background

The default installation path is C:\APPS, with a version specific folder structure below it:

The principal being applied is that all Main Roads customisations would normally fall under the MR_CUST folder. For example directly below MR_CUST would be ACAD and 12D. Below ACAD would be a folder specific to the version of AutoCAD that the customisation belongs to (e.g. ACAD2009, ACAD2010). This will allow multiple customisations to exist side by side during transition periods from one version of AutoCAD to another.

Changing the default path is not encouraged as there are a number of locations where AutoCAD stores fixed paths. These include the profile and tool palettes. Relocation of the customisation files will cause these paths to break.

If your local arrangements prevent installation to C:\, please contact CADD Systems for assistance.

New Installation

NOTE: Ensure that nothing related to the TMR AutoCAD Customisation is running or open at the time. This includes the customisation help file, or anything in the C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD<Version> folder structure.

Run the MR_ACAD<Version>-4.exe file.

The first window to appear may take some time to appear dependent on where it is being run from (i.e. local drive, or network drive).Click Unzip.

When completed a “Finished” dialogue will appear.

Windows shortcuts are provided in the Shortcuts folder.

Upgrading from Previous Releases (e.g. 2010.2, 2010.3):

Before running the self extracting file MR_ACAD<Version>-4.exe file (e.g. MR_ACAD2010-4.exe), rename the existing folder.

For example rename C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD2007 to C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD2007_old.

This will ensure that you can retrieve any content or personalised files you’ve added to the supplied content. For example the custom.cuix file stores any personalised workspaces.

The rest of the “installation” process is the same as a new installation.

  • With this release a folder name has been altered for AutoCAD 2008, 2009 and 2010. (C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD2010\lsp_vb to C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD2010\lsp_dotNet).
  • If you are upgrading from a previous release, any existing MR_Standard_ACAD, MR_Standard_Map or Civil3D_w_MRCUST profile will not be able to access the acaddoc.lsp file contained in the LISP folder, which would normally clean up the existing profile to ensure that it gets updated correctly.
  • Please launch the customisation as usual. You should see the following error appear in the command window:
  • Manually delete the relevant MR_Standard_ACAD, MR_Standard_Map or Civil3D_w_MRCUST profileby performing the following steps:
  • Go to Tools->Options within AutoCAD/Map/Civil3D;
  • Select the Profiles Tab;
  • Ensure that the default AutoCAD profile <Unnamed Profile> is set to current;
  • Delete all customisation related profiles;
  • AutoCAD
  • MR_Standard_ACAD
  • Map 3D
  • MR_Standard_Map
  • Civil 3D
  • Civil3D_w_MRCUST
  • Exit AutoCAD/Map/Civil3D and restart from the relevant shortcut.
  • You should then be presented with a version specific dialogue during startup. Please follow the instructions. It is important for the correct presentation of the tool palettes.

  • Once you have restarted, you should be right to go.

Launching The Customisation

The customisation can be launched from the appropriate shortcut copied from the Shortcuts folder to your preferred location (Desktop, Quick Launch bar or Start Menu)

A Note on Civil 3D: The Civil 3D implementation of the customisation is token only. There has been no effort to provide a template with Civil 3D components such as long and cross section styles, string labelling, etc. CADD Systems does not have any imperative or mandate to carry out the work required.

A Note on AutoCAD Profiles: Up to AutoCAD 2011, Autodesk continues to closely tie the toolpalettes to the profiles. This means that any additional tools, or reordered tools will not appear in the correct order unless the profile gets updated.

The customisation will automatically determine that the profile exists and needs updating and will prompt you with the following message:

Please do not ignore this message. Not following the instructions could leave the customisation incorrectly configured and not running properly.

Shortcuts

Windows XP

Shortcuts exist in the Shortcuts folder of the customisation (e.g. C:\Apps\MR_CUST\ACAD\ACAD2010\Shortcuts). These will launch AutoCAD with the appropriate settings for the Transport and Main Roads customisation to load.

If AutoCAD is yet to be used by the current user (e.g. following a PC reimage, or new PC), it is recommended that AutoCAD/Map is started from its default shortcut first. This creates a default profile <Unnamed Profile> that can be selected if the customisation needs to be uninstalled.

Following this, all that the user needs to do to initialise a profile is start AutoCAD using the preferred version shortcut. This will create the appropriate profile within AutoCAD/Map for that user.

Windows Vista/7

If AutoCAD runs in your Vista/7 environment, the customisation will function. There is no operating system specific content in the customisation.
