Lone Star Symphonic Band to Perform Holiday Concert for West Houston/Katy Area Residents
October 25th, 2010. Houston, Texas. Lone Star Symphonic Band has planned a holiday-themed concert set for Sunday, December 12th, 2010 at the Seven Lakes High School Performing Arts Center. Seven Lakes High School is located at 9251 South Fry Road, Katy, Texas. Traditional and contemporary Christmas and Chanukah music will be performed during the concert.
The concert will begin at 4:00 pm, and tickets are available on the Band’s website – for $5.50 each, and will available at the door the day of the concert for $10 each. The Band will also be offering 2010-2011 Season Tickets and 2011 Entertainment Books for sale during intermission.
The program includes holiday favorites such as “A Christmas Festival,” “Sleigh Ride,” “The Nutcracker Suite,” “And the Mountains Echoed Gloria,” “Amazing Grace,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “The Christmas Song.” The Band will also perform “Rikudim,” a selection comprised of Israeli Folk Dances. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Seven Lakes High School Band.
The Seven Lakes High School Sapphires Dance Team will present “Cookies with Santa” from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, immediately following the concert. The event includes a 4x6 picture with Santa, cookies with Santa, face painting, arts and crafts, and games. Tickets for “Cookies with Santa” are $15 each. A $5 discount will be given with the presentation of a concert ticket. Founded in 1993 as the West Houston Concert Band, the Band was renamed in 2002 to reach out to more of the Houston Metropolitan area. In the summer of 2005, the Band entered into a joint venture with HoustonCommunity College – Spring Branch Campus, offering the band as a course for credit to HCC students interested in performing with an ensemble. The Band is under the direction of Mr. Bob Bryant.
