Bicester Film Festival 2017 Entry Form

Entry Process

·  All entries should be children’s work (minimum of teacher input in final product, please).

·  Films should NOT primarily be derived from a pre-existing template, i.e., iMovie templates

·  Film length MAXIMUM 3 minutes

·  Maximum 7 films per school

·  All films to be in either AVI, WMV or MOV format.

·  Each film to be accompanied by a COMPLETED entry form

·  All films to include credits

·  All films to James Dolan by Friday 9th June 2017 (e-mail: j)

·  If necessary, the committee may select up to six films from each category to be forwarded to the external judge.

·  Judges will use judging criteria to pick a winner for each category (please see overleaf)

The gala award ceremony will be held at the Vue Cinema, Bicester on Thursday 2 July from 9.30 until about noon.

Judging Criteria

Films will be judged against the following criteria.

·  Originality of script

·  Quality of camera work

·  Quality of performances (e.g. live action or vocal in animated films)

·  Quality of editing and continuity

·  Quality of costumes, props, sets (live action) (If props are used, ensure brand logos are not evident)

·  Quality of models, artwork, sets (animation)

·  Smoothness of animation

·  Use of original music including soundtrack (ensure copyright free music is used)

·  Use of sound effects and special effects

·  Overall entertainment/interest of films

Saving Films from Windows Movie Maker

If you use Windows Movie Maker to edit your film please ensure the film is saved in the appropriate format for the judges. To do so you need to ensure that you choose Save Movie (as distinct from Save Project). You can save your movie for Computer and/or burn it straight on to a DVD in WMV format.
