The Shenandoah School Corporation Board of Trustees met for a Regular Meeting on Monday, June 17, 2013, at

7:00 P.M. in the Administration Office. Board members present were Mr. Scott Trennepohl, Mrs. Beth Middleton,

Mr. Alan Troxell and Mr. Jay Cronk.

1. CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Scott Trennepohl, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. The Pledge to the Flag was led by

Mr. Jay Cronk.

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 20, 2013. Mr. Alan Troxell seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

3. BUSINESS

A. BOARD MEETING DATES FOR 2013-2014:

A motion was made by Mr. Alan Troxell and seconded by Mr. Jay Cronk to approve the Board Meeting dates for 2013-2014. Motion carried (4-0).

B. TEXTBOOK RENTAL/FEES FOR 2013-2014:

Mr. Ron Green requested Board approval on textbook rental and fees for Shenandoah School Corporation for

2013-2014 as submitted by building principals. Mr. Alan Troxell made a motion to approve textbook rental and

fees as presented. Mr. Jay Cronk seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

4. REQUESTS

A. COMMEMORATION OF NEW PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND WELLNESS FACILITY:

Mr. Ron Green and Mrs. Julia Miller presented an outline for a commemorative plaque for Mr. Curtis Parker.

Mrs. Miller worked on wording for the plaque to be displayed in the new corridor entrance to the facility. Placement

in this location will allow all who enter the facility as well as all who pass up and down the hallway to see the plaque.

Mr. Ron Green recommended Board approval. A motion was made by Mr. Jay Cronk and seconded by Mrs. Beth Middleton. The motion carried (4-0).

B. TRANSFER REQUESTS FOR 2013-2014:

Mr. Brent Kinsey, SES Principal, requested approval of transfer students for the 2013-2014 school year.

Mrs.Beth Middleton made a motion to approve the recommendations and Mr. Jay Cronk seconded the motion.

The motion carried (4-0).

C. MEAL PRICES FOR 2013-2014:

Mrs. Krista Demick, Food Service Director recommended meal prices for 2013-2014. The full student lunch for Shenandoah High School and Shenandoah Middle School will change from $1.60 to $1.75 each. The full student breakfast price will change from $.75 to $1.00. These changes are for a federal mandated weighted average between paid meals and free/reduced meal prices. These changes will help SSC meet federal guidelines to continue the

Free and Reduced Program. Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the meal prices and Mr. Alan Troxell seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

D. BREAD AND MILK BIDS FRO 2013-2014:

Mrs. Krista Demick, Food Service Director requested approval of 2013-2014 Bread and Milk bids. The recommended bread bid went to Aunt Millie’s Bakeries and the milk bid went to Prairie Farms. Mrs. Beth Middleton made a motion to approve both bids and Mr. Alan Troxell seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

E. GIFTS:

A motion was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton and seconded by Mr. Alan Troxell to approve the $225.00 gift from the Shenandoah Elementary Retired Teachers Organization for library books. The motion carried (4-0).

5. PERSONNEL

A. RECOMMENDATIONS:

A motion was made by Mr. Jay Cronk and seconded by Mr. Alan Troxell to approve the following recommendations. Shenandoah Elementary School: Amy Roeder, SS IREAD - 11 hours; Deeann Conner, SS IREAD - 13 hours; Lindy Holdren, SS IREAD – 13 hours; Monica Lumpkin, SS IREAD – 11 hours; Emily Lawson, SS IREAD – 13 hours; Erin Kivett, SS IREAD – 11 hours. Shenandoah Middle School: Amber Gilchrist, English/Language Arts, approved by the superintendent as a transfer; Lindsey Wattenbarger, 2 ½ hour Cafeteria Position; Brittany Helman, ECA 8th grade Volleyball Coach; Bruce Stanley, ECA 8th grade Boys Basketball Coach; Shenandoah School Corporation: Nelson Metcalfe, Corporation Bus Driver for 2013-2014 school year. Motion carried (4-0).

B. LEAVE:

A motion was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton and seconded by Mr. Alan Troxell to approve the leave of SMS Art teacher, Beth Ann Ferguson. Ms. Ferguson will be on leave from August 6 – August30, 2013. Motion carried (4-0).

C. RESIGNATION:

A motion was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton and seconded by Mr. Jay Cronk to approve the following resignations:

Shenandoah Elementary: Kristine Kimball, Special Education Assistant. Shenandoah Middle School: Rick Evans, Custodial/ Maintenance; Tom Zimmer, ECA Football Coach. Shenandoah High School: Aaron Harter, Agriculture Teacher/FFA Sponsor. Shenandoah School Corporation: Denise Reddington, Nurse Assistant. Motion carried (4-0).

6. CLAIMS

Mr. Jay Cronk made a motion to approve the claims as presented. Mr. Alan Troxell seconded the motion. The motion carried (4-0).

7. DOCUMENT SIGNATURES

The Board signed the following documents: Minutes from May 20, 2013 School Board Meeting and Executive Session; Summer School Teacher Contracts; and Claims.

8. ANNOUNCEMENTS

July 8, 2013 – Regular School Board Meeting, 7:00 P.M.

9. ADJOURNMENT

A motion to adjourn was made by Mrs. Beth Middleton and seconded by Mr. Alan Troxell. The motion carried (4-0).
