Two little hands go clap, clap, clap,
Two little feet go tap, tap, tap,
One little body turns around and
Slowly, quietly sits right down.
To incorporate ideas from Moving Minds, try the Music Building Blocks chant with the changes below. Simply revise words and movements as shown below. After doing this on a couple of occasions, ask children for new ideas on a starting position.
- With children seated on the floor,
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap: Children clap hands under knees
Two little feet tap, tap, tap: Children tap their feet by lifting them off floor and tapping them
together
One little body swivels around: Children turn around by spinning on their buttocks.
And slowly, quietly, comes to a stop: Children stop.
- With children lying on their stomachs:
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap:Children lift both hands up from floor to clap them together
Two little feet go tap, tap, tap:Children tap toes on the floor or together(bend knees)
One little body rolls around:Children roll from stomach to back
And slowly, quietly sits right up:Children sit right up (encourage the children to sit-up without
using hands to help).
- With children kneeling:
Two little hands to clap, clap, clap:Children clap hands above headbehind back
Two little feet go tap, tap, tap:Children tap feet together
One little body turns around:Children turn around on knees
And slowly, quietly sits right down:Children sit down.
- With children standing:
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap:Children clap hands above head behind back
Two little feet go tap, tap, tap:Children jump 3 times.
One little body turns around: Children “jump turn”
And slowly, quietly sits right down.Children sit down.
- With children long sitting: (sitting with legs out straight)
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap: Clap over head or behind back
Two little feet go tap, tap, tap:Children move feet up / down to tap floor)
One little body swivels around: Children pulls legs into to body, wrap arms around legs, & then
Swivels around
And slowly, quietly sits right down. Children right up into tailor sit (criss-cross).
