Motorola,a leading supplier of hand-held and mobile telecommunications products, has threepermanent, full-time opportunities available for Industrial Designers and Human Factors Specialistsin its Design Integration Group, located in beautiful Austin, Texas.
Design Integration consists of four global studios located in Ft.Lauderdale, Austin, Singapore, and Penang, Malaysia. Some travel will be required for all positions.
Our Austin studio is in need of an experienced, world-class, Senior Industrial Designer, Industrial Designer and Human Factors Specialist to design innovative next generation communication and data products. The majority of the work will be centered on wireless (Windows OS, integrated cell phone/radio products) and mobile information appliances, intelligent assistants, voice and data terminals. These devices deliver a wide range of services from voice communications, e-commerce, and information-related transactions.
Human Factors Specialist:
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics, Human-Computer Interaction, or Interaction Design.
- Ideally industry experience as a hands-on Human Factors practitioner and usability evaluation specialist. If you have had considerable experience as an intern in a product development environment we would also like to hear from you.
- A deep understanding of Human Behavioral sciences (demonstrable by current experience, training and course-work).
Responsibilities and Skills
- You will conduct Human Factors evaluations, consultations, and iterative usability testing throughout the product development cycle, providing actionable recommendations directly to designers, marketing and engineers.
- You will integrate seamlessly into a multidisciplinary team that includes Human Factors/Ergonomics, Psychologists and Cognitive Scientists, User Interaction designers and Industrial Designers.
- You will demonstrate the ability to deliver to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.

- You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You will be a US citizen and speak fluent English
- You will have the ability to present your analyses and design recommendations in a compelling manner.
