MORTH Sponsored Workshop cum Training Program on “Fuel Efficiency in Transport Sector” at Kochi on 07/10/2015
In continuation to advice from Ministry of Road Transport & Highways vide letter RT-1804/1/2015-T dt 27 August,2015, a training program on “Fuel Efficiency in Transport Sector” was coordinated by PCRA at Kochi on 07/10/2015. The program was held at Center Hotel, Panampilly Nagar, Cochin-36.
There were 33 participants and the department-wise break up is given below.

The program was inaugurated by Sri M P Dinesh,IPS, Kochi City Police Commissioner. Welcome address was given by Sri A Janakiram, Chief Regional Coordinator, PCRA-SR. In his address, he talked about the ambitious plan of PCRA to train 25 lakh drivers pan India over a period of 3 years. Inaugural speech was delivered by Police Commissioner. In his speech he talked about the significance of energy efficiency in the sector, need for behavioural changes for adapting to mass transport systems etc. He also told about plans of the department to train all their drivers on fuel efficient driving techniques. He added that even a 10% reduction in fuel consumption shall bring in 2 lacs a month for Kochi city police.

- Vehicular pollution, IC Engines & Lubricants : K Madhavaiah
The session was kept open for suggestions from participants. There were enthusiastic responses from all participants. While everyone appreciated the program, there were also suggestions on the following topics:
Including ‘fuel efficiency’ at driving schools
Including more of videos/clips
Extending the training to water transport etc
It was informed to the participants that the Ministry and PCRA has ongoing activities for taking fuel efficiency to every driving school across India. PCRA-SR has developed a module for imparting training to fishing trawlers also, which was conveyed to the audience.
