MoRPHE project management:

Familiarisation by distance learning

Management of Research Projects in the Historic Environment (MoRPHE) is a set of free guidelines covering the management of all historic environment research and ‘research and development’ (R&D) projects undertaken or funded by English Heritage. MoRPHE provides a framework of defined roles, procedures, stages, terms, and key documents to assist the management of research projects in our sector.

Who is it for?

MoRPHE Familiarisation by distance learning is a brief introductory course suitable for all those with a connection with research projects, either within English Heritage or working in the sector, or in full time training. No previous experience of project management is needed.

What is required?

It is a distance learning course so you can work through the course at your own pace, and at a location and time that suits you. Around 2-4 hours work will be needed. You are then encouraged to assess your own learning.

In order to undertake this course you will need:-

·  Support from your line manager or tutor

·  An email address and internet access

·  Ability to browse the internet

What the course includes

The MoRPHE Familiarisation by distance learning course pack will be sent to you by post at the address you have given. The pack includes:-

·  A copy of the MoRPHE Project Managers Guide.

·  Guidance on organising your time and setting objectives for your training.

·  A course booklet introducing you to key sections of the Guide, and suggesting activities to help you understand these.

·  A self-assessment questionnaire to help you check what you have learned.

Further information

This course is free, but does cost money to provide. We would hope that you have completed the course within 4 weeks of receiving the course pack and will contact you after this time to see how you are progressing. With this in mind please do not send in your booking form until you know you have approximately 2-4 hours set aside to complete the course fully.
