SECTION B - GENERAL

Welcome to NLCC Micmac!

We are very pleased to welcome all returning and new cadets to our corps. Each month routine orders are sent home with the cadets. These orders are not just a notice they are orders given by the Commanding Officer to the cadets and are to be treated as such.

Drop off/Pick up:

Parents/guardians are asked to enter Scotian when dropping off and picking up their cadets. We have a sign-in binder and ask all parents/guardians to sign their cadets in and out each night. Cadets are asked to arrive at 6:15pm. Cadets should not arrive at Scotian any earlier as the building is not open until 6:15pm and staff are not available to supervise cadets. Parents/guardians should be at Scotian by 8:45pm in time to pick up their cadet at 9:00pm.

We invite all parents/guardians to arrive in time to hear the end of night announcements. Please remember to keep conversation to a minimum when on the deck so that the cadets and other parents/guardians can easily hear the announcements.

Communication:

All notices will be posted on the corps website. Please refer to the website for further information. The address can be found at the top of the routine orders. Staff will also send regular emails and use the Facebook group for communication. We encourage parents/guardians to join our Facebook group as we use this media to inform families of cancellations and reminders

We welcome feedback from our families and encourage parents/guardians to speak with staff if they have questions and/or concerns. Members of staff can be contacted by using our gmail account (listed above).

Canteen:

Each parade night we offer a canteen for our cadets. Prices range from $0.25 - $2.00 an item. All proceeds are used towards trips and special events.

Uniforms and Clothing:

Uniforms are given to cadets each year. Cadets are expected to keep the uniform in good repair and wear their uniform according to the instructions found in the monthly routine orders. Pants may be tailored to fit your cadet – when hemming, please do not cut the material.

New cadets will receive their uniform after attending cadets for four consecutive training nights. Returning cadets will receive their uniform on the first night.

Please go over the dress section of the Routine Orders each month with your cadet. The dress section will indicate how the cadets should be dressed for regular training and special events. Uniform means cadets wear their uniform with their NLCC Micmac ball cap. Full uniform means cadets wear their uniform with their white top.

Fundraising:

We are pleased to offer our programming for free. To ensure that cadets have a quality program as well as the opportunity to seek new adventures, we are required to do some fundraising throughout the year. We try to keep the fundraising to a minimum and ask for the support of all the parents/guardians.

Field trips:

Our corps will participate in outings organized by our corps and outings organized by other corps. Permission slips with all information will go home ahead of time. Each cadet must return a signed permission slip in order to attend the event. Cadets who arrive without a signed permission slip will not be allowed to attend.
