Principal’s Summary:

Anthem’s sixth grade students sponsored a blood drive where they were deemed “Pint Sized Heroes.” The class was able to enlist 38 people to donate blood, saving the lives of 114 people! Fourth graders took part in their “Night at the Zoo” field trip where they were able to go behind the scenes at the Phoenix Zoo and experience the animals up close and personal. Students also had an opportunity to grab as much cash as they could when the Money Machine came to Anthem! Students who sold a pre-determined amount of cookie dough were able to take part in this lunch time event. Lastly, Anthem students participated in the first ever Turkey Trot on November 20th. Kids ran outside during their elective time to enjoy music provided by Mr. Farnsworth. We also invited Anthem parents and grandparents to eat a turkey lunch with their children. The cafeteria sold 791 meals; the most sold in the district on that day.

The first benchmark results are in and teachers and administrators are beginning the process of analyzing data. DIBELS will begin Monday, December 3rd, giving us information about our K-3 reading achievement. Students can look forward to after school tutoring and small group instruction at their level based on these current indicators.

Lastly, I would like to wish everybody a Happy Holiday Season. Much is to be done and accomplished in the three short weeks before the break.
