MONTE RIO INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
FLOAT INSTRUCTIONS

Entries accepted first come, first served. Deadline for entries is 5:00 pm on 7/1/2018.
The first three to register get pre-assembled & mounted float platforms.

TIME/LOCATION: Floats must be in the staging area ( the upriver end of Big Rocky Beach ) no laterthan 7:30 pm. The parade begins at 9:00 and lasts about 45 minutes, depending on the number of floats. Your program will last from 4 to 5 minutes.

REGISTRATION: Attach a typed or legibly printed copy of your float narrative for the announcer and names of adults and minors who will be on your float.

Provide a CD with the track number noted. If mailing your registration, bring the CD with you on the 2nd when you come to set up your float. Each float participant must sign the Release and Waiver of Liability form. ( parents or legal guardians must sign for minors )

All forms must be in the Parade Coordinator’s hands by 5:00pm. You may drop them off at the Chamber of Commerce table on the beach from 11:00 – 4:00, or mail them to MRCC, P. O. Box 220, Monte Rio
CA 95462. We welcome advance registration!Please call ( 707 ) 865 9660 to leave a message that you plan to enter a float.

You must follow the directions of the Parade Manager at all times. They will put floats in order – unlighted floats first – and let you know when to start.

PRIZES: There are three cash awards. Criteria are: Use of color and/or lighting; acting and/or performance; and overall concept and/or impression. Winners may pick up their awards at the Grandstand after the Water Curtain Show and before the fireworks, or we will mail them.

BUILDING A FLOAT: Three pre-made float platforms and canoes are available for the first 3 to request them. Instructions for building you own float platform are available on request. We encourage you to use your own canoes although some are available to rent after 5:00 pm.

AFTER THE PARADE: Immediately after the last float passes, return borrowed platforms & canoes to the staging area before the Water Curtain begins. If using your own platform & canoes, you may park and dismantle your float downstream of the bridge on the beach below Monte Rio Auto Repair. Leave borrowed platforms on their canoes. Canoes will be locked up overnight. Floats, non-rented canoes and all debris must be removed no later than 10:30pm.
