QHHS SMART BIKE/SCOOTER POLICY

In order for a student to have permission to ride their bike/scooter to school and secure it in the bike lockup, they must abide by the following policy:

·  When riding their bike/scooter to and from school, students must abide by the road laws and legislation, including wearing a helmet at all times during travel. Students must always use their bike/scooter with utmost safety and caution.

·  Students must be able to transport all equipment required for the school day to maintain a motivated approach to their studies and be prepared for their lessons.

·  Students must secure their bike/scooter in the bike lockup between 8.20am and 8:40am. All riders are required to be in class at 8:45am to promote learning and academic achievement.

·  When on school premises, students are to walk their bike/scooter into the school and until off school grounds in the afternoon. Pedestrians (people walking) are to be treated with respect and have right of way.

·  The bike lockup is a shared facility. Gates will be locked between 8:45am till 2:55pm during the school day. A bicycle rack is provided for parking and the area must only be used by bike/scooter riders. These students are to be respectful of other people’s equipment and tolerant of many people using the one facility.

·  Please note, students must have a bike/scooter license to use the facility. The school cannot accept responsibility for security although all care is taken.

Any breach of the above policy may result in a student’s bike license being revoked and no further travel to school by bike/scooter will be permitted.
