MONROE CITY R-1 BOARD OF EDUCATION
REGULAR SESSION MEETING
January 8, 2018
The Monroe City R-1 Board of Education met in Regular Session on Monday, January 8, 2018. Board members present were Mr. Jim Underhill, Mrs. Michelle Kendrick, Mrs. Suzanne Quigley, Mrs. Linda Greening, Mr. Dennis Moss, Mr. Dennis Long, and Mr. Roger Pennewell. Also present was Dr. Tracy Bottoms, Mr. Troy Patterson, Mrs. Kim Shinn, Mrs. Linda Bichsel, Mrs. Jennifer Hays, Mrs. Barbara Falls, and representatives from Clarity Health Center.
Mr. Jim Underhill called the Regular Session meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Dennis Long made a motion to approve the January agenda. Mr. Dennis Moss seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
In Old Business:
· Dr. Bottoms presented the financial report.
· Facility Meeting discussion.
· Strategic Planning review of prior month discussion
· Mr. Dennis Moss made a motion to amend the 2017-2018 District Calendar to reflect the year end date of 5/18/18 with an early release of 11:30 am (due to the 1/8/18 snow day). Mrs. Suzanne Quigley seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
In New Business:
· Mrs. Linda Greening made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes: minutes from previous meetings; approval of bills & warrants, with the exception of checks #033208; approve Fund I to Fund II transfer of $ 159,841.21; and to set the next board meeting for February 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Dennis Long seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
· Mrs. Linda Greening made a motion to approve check # 033208 to John Long, Mrs. Michelle Kendrick seconded, the motion carried 6-0; Mr. Dennis Long abstained.
· Representatives from Clarity Health Center presented their program
· Mr. Dennis Moss made a motion to approve the Agriculture Education Program Summary as presented by Mrs. Keriann Brandt and Mr. Sean Frankenbach. Mrs. Suzanne Quigley seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
· Mrs. Suzanne Quigley made a motion to approve the Principal’s Reports. Mrs. Michelle Kendrick seconded. The motion carried 7-0.
· The Board set the Annual Employee Appreciation Banquet for Friday, March 16, 2018.
· Communications:
· Board of Election Candidacy Filing Dates: December 12, 2017 – January 16, 2018.
· DESE letter of acknowledgement for MSIP 5 Accreditation
· Bereavement Thank You from the Family of Judy Hagan
Mr. Dennis Long made a motion to reserve the right to go into closed session at the next regular meeting or any meeting in the interim for personnel and litigation matters pursuant to RSMo 610.021 § (3), and (13). Mrs. Suzanne Quigley seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote:
