Monkey Class Newsletter for Spring Term 4February 2017

Dear Parents, Grandparents, Carers and Friends,

We hope you have all had a great Holiday and we are looking forward to continuing our topic, which is ‘Once Upon A Time’. We have decided to continue this due to the children’s interest.

We will be planting our own beans and making cress heads, so again any donations would be very much appreciated. We are also planning to grow lots of plants and herbs to enhance our outdoor area.

PE

Our PE session will continue to be on Monday afternoons from 1.05pm until 1.55pm. Mr Andrews, our coach, will also be delivering PE on Tuesday afternoons for this term. Please remember to put your child’s name on each item of clothing and remove earrings or send in surgical tape to cover them The children are encouraged to get changed as independently as possible, so please try to make sure they have items of clothing that they can manage.

Mungo Monkey

Will still be going home with a child every Tuesday and Friday and we always look forward to listening to their adventures!

Reading books and sounds/words

Continue to listen to your child read and practise their sounds/words as often as possible. This is the most important homework that can help your child succeed. The children are working extremely hard in their daily phonics lessons and the support you give at home strengthens this learning significantly and builds a solid foundation for the future.

Development of Outdoor Classroom

We are excited to have the opportunity to improve our outdoor learning environment for our children and they have already decided on some ideas for improvement, such as ‘real bricks’ in our construction area and ‘curtains that actually shut’ in our outdoor theatre! We may need your help so please look out for text messages!

Many thanks for your continued support and please feel free to ask questions!
