INTERNAL – Anticipated Position
VACANCY NOTICE
TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION MONITOR 1:1 Civil Service: Non-Competitive
Anticipated, Full time, 10-Month position Affiliation: Employees’ Association
Exceptional Education Department Location: BOCES Smith School
DUTIES: Monitor will work 1:1 with a student who has multiple disabilities, in order to maintain safety and to implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention/de-escalation strategies and techniques. Assists students in controlling behavior and exhibiting appropriate behavior in school throughout the school day. Assists in appropriate pupil and program record keeping. *This position works primarily with students needing emotional and/or behavioral support in the Bridges 12:1:1 program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree or at least 60 college credit hours of study from a
regionally accredited or NYS registered college or University; OR a High School diploma or GED and two years of experience working with children or individuals with disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as listed above. (Must meet Civil Service Requirements including residency.)
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. * Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

SALARY: $20,057.00 (2015-2016 full-time base salary) with additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience and/or education. Excellent benefits are available.
