  1. Confirmation of Minutes of Monthly Meeting held on the 24thMarch 2014

The minutes of the Area Committee meeting held on the 24thMarch 2014 were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr J.V. Farrelly and seconded by Cllr C. Yore.

  1. Reports

Housing

A report was circulated stating timeframe for works to be carried out on vacant houses.

Sanitary

A report was circulated to the members. No update since last month.

Roads

A report was circulated to the members.

A request was made to have the following roads repaired:

Carnaross-Woodpole Road

R163 McGee’s Cross to Ballinlough

Boltown Road

Kilskyre to Clonmellon Road

Members discussed obtaining contractors & Engineer advised that a letter was sent to contractors.

Water flooding into Mrs Crosby yard at Whitewood, Kilmainhamwood.

Pothole at Senator Farrelly Avenue, Kilmainhamwood, very dangerous.

Issue with flooding on L2800 and a high wall at Peter Fallons. Wall is a protected structure and flooding causing a problem.

Cul-de-sacs require repairs, residents don’t have resources for CIS, in particular Keeley’s road near factory in Oldcastle.

Ramps in St. Brigids Terrace, Oldcastle. Area Engineer advised that design report not favouring ramps and there are just 2 locations where ramps could go & contractors are on board.

Quality of works on Fennor Road and also at Ballyhist to Forge restaurant, chippings have stripped. Also surface dressing on L2807 from Millbrook to Crossdrum. Area engineer advised that contractors are responsible for 12 months after job complete and remedial works will be undertaken.

Potholes in Crossakiel to be repaired before the Jim Connell festival.

Can traffic restrictions be placed on the Avenue, Allenstown?

Members requested patching machine to be re-instated.

L68131 beside Gibney Steel and Security Cabin – very bad potholes.

  1. Section 183 for disposal of land at Kilmainhamwood to Frank & Mary Smith.

To consider the attached Notice under Section 183 for the disposal of .009ha at Kilmainhamwood to Frank & Mary Smith and recommend to the Full Council for agreement were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr J.V. Farrelly and seconded by Cllr O. Fox.

  1. Any other business raised by the Cathaoirleach.

Pride of Place sign for Carnaross – sign already there and needs replacing.

Traffic calming on Square in Oldcastle and Dromone.

Members expressed best wishes and thanked the engineering staff and clerical staff for their co-operation for the past few years.

Aine Bird spoke on behalf of Kells Area and in Kevin Stewarts absence to wish all members all the best in the future.
