Present: Cllr. O. Fox, Cllr. E. Cassidy, Cllr. C. Yore, Cllr. J.V.Farrelly, Cll. O. Sweeney.

Officials: Ms. F. Beers, Area Engineer, Ms. A. Bird, Area Administrator, Mr. N. Whyatt, Senior Engineer and Ms. E. Anderson, Clerical Officer.

Absent: Mr. Kevin Stewart, Kells Area Manager

1.  Confirmation of Minutes of Monthly Meeting held on the 27th January 2014

The minutes of the Area Committee meeting held on the 27th January 2014 were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr E. Cassidy and seconded by Cllr C. Yore.

2.  Reports

Housing

A report was circulated.

The members were advised that Housing has made an application to the Department for funding to carry out works to two void houses which require extensive refurbishment works. One house is ready for allocation and the remaining vacancies require a schedule of works to be completed.

Sanitary

A report was circulated to the members.

Members requested an update on the amount of funding approved for the Kells /Oldcastle Water Supply Scheme.

Update on the slit trenches in Oldcastle.

Roads

This was dealt under the Roadwork’s programme item.

3.  Update on the Roadwork’s Programme 2014.

F. Beers, Area Engineer circulated the proposed roadwork’s programme and map.

A discussion followed and the members raised the following:

Why the L68187 to Belleek is not in this years programme however it was agreed to complete in the 4 year programme of works.

Members were advised that there was no CIS in operation when the 4 year programme was agreed. It is intended by Transport that all cul de sac’s should be repaired under a CIS. As this cul de sac was included in the 4 year programme the members agreed unanimously to transfer€30k out of L2800 Loughcrew to restore the l68187 at Belleek.

It was also agreed to do some drainage and potholing on the L6832 at Bloomsbery.

On proposal of Cllr Farrelly and seconded by Cllr Cassidy the roads programme was agreed as presented.

Deerpark Cowpark

Ms. A Bird confirmed that a map was received today from St Michael’s GFC and draft lease with the solicitors.

Issue raised regarding replacing a side gate at a house in Belair . To be referred to housing for follow up.

St. Paul’s Avenue in Athboy, a sign post near ground level, residents want post removed.

Cllr. O. Fox enquired on progress in installing ramps at St. Brigids Terrace & traffic calming in Oldcastle and Dromone.

Cllr. C. Yore said there should be additional funds for roads that are used for tourism.

Cllr. C. Yore – Castlekeeran Road requires repairs as used by tourists.

Cllr. C. Yore – village of Carnaross pothole & past the graveyard in Carnaross.
