The above online project has been shortlisted for a Junior Golden Spider award in the Best Blob category of the school section. The Golden Spider Awards are very important in the Irish computer industry and to be shortlisted in the schools section is a great achievement. Well done to Ms. McHale and the girls from 3rd, 4th and 5th classes. The finals are on the 13th December so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Hallelujah Choir

Our 5th and 6th classes are rehearsing in preparation for their performance in Simmonscourt on the 12th December as part of the Hallelujah. For those parents who can’t get to the concert, there will be an opportunity to hear a selection of the songs at their school concert-see timetable below.

Electrical Works

These are progressing and hopefully the school will be fully rewired with new light fittings by Christmas. We may not be in a position to put up our usual decorations as they will interfere with the work. However the crib has just been replaced with a new one and as usual that will be a feature of our reception hall.

WholeSchool Evaluation

The school will have a Whole School Evaluation from the Department of Education and Skills in January. In preparation for this, the inspectors will give out a Parental Questionnaire to approx half the classes in the school either before Christmas or just afterwards.

Book Fair

Thanks to the Parent’s Association for the very successful sale of 2nd hand books. Pauline Duffy in particular did sterling work in organising it. We will do this again so when clearing out keep children’s books in particular for us as we ran short!

Attendance

Many parents are not sending in a note or letting the teacher know why a child missed school. Parents need to ring us, e-mail us or write a note to the teacher explaining the absence. Children who miss a lot of school are consistently falling behind their classmates.
