Mold State Examination Calendar and License Guidance
September1, 2017 – October 31, 2018
The mold program is moving to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) on November 1, 2017. No mold exams will be given by DSHS after October 11, 2017. Registration for an exam will only be given upon receipt of the examination fee, a completed registration form, copy of valid training certificate(s), and other supporting documentation as applicable. Please mail exam registration materials before the exam date to the address on the registration form. Mail requests may not make the transition date and will be given to TDLR for processing after October 20. Allow for mail and processing times of (7-10 days) and your choice of two exam dates and locations. A confirmation letter is required for admittance to an exam site and will be emailed/faxed/mailed to each registrant. All exam facilities have limited seating and walk-ins for any exam at any location will not be allowed. Registration by phone, fax, will NOT be accepted for any location. Exam locations/dates are subject to change. Should this occur, all registrants would be notified as soon as possible. Please contact the Environmental and Sanitation Licensing Group in the Austin office (Alison Haskell, ext. 2423) for registration forms or with special requests related to the Texas examination: 1-800-572-5548 (in Texas) or 512-834-6600.
Once the exam is taken, Mold license applicants will receive notification of passing via email. Applicants will be able to apply online and pay online until 5 pm on October 13th. The system will be shut down after that to get it ready to transfer to TDLR. DSHS will stop processing submitted licenses on October 17. Applications still in process after October 17 will be moved and issued by TDLR.
