Modbury Twinning Association

Modbury Twinning Association has about 50 members at the moment. We had a new twin town 4/5 years ago, Lanveoc. The town signs were eventually installed before their last visit 2 years ago, to us. Our year comprises social activities that raise a bit of money to go towards biennial visits. These include things like a summer lunch, wine tasting, New Year dinner, French films, and we do meet our French counterparts. Last year we travelled to Lanveoc and spent 3 lovely days being hosted enfamille with their interested residentsaswell. The treated us to participating in a communal naval community dinner, and we met two Olympic medal winners (sailing). They took us on a tour around a park which was quite extraordinary. This year they will be coming to us and we will be expecting a visit from a group of 28 people.

We have chosen to coincide their visit with Modbury May Fair and we are hoping that it will be a pleasure and both to them and add to the events for Modbury residents and a wide range of people and also that they can see some of the community events that we put on, so we are really looking forward to that. We hope we don’t cause too many problems in bringing along a few extra people, so we are really looking forward to that.

We are always very pleased to have new members. You don’t have to want to go to France or have receive guests here. We are really a group of people who just enjoy all things French, French food, the country, the language etc. so you don’t feel you need to commit to anything.

Finally we would like to invite (semi officially) members of the council to come along to our welcome drinks on the first day of their visit. We will be very happy to have you their which will be here at the Pavillion on Saturday 21st May.
