Minutes of the Board Meeting

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

The MAHA board meeting was called to order at 6:30pm by President Jeremy Letourneau. The meeting was held at the Highgate Arena Office.

Board Members in attendance were:

Board members not in attendance: Ian Zier, Head Coach,

MAHA Members in Attendance: Jamie Berard, Amanda Connolly, Ashley Hoburn, Eric Young, and Ashley Longley.

Secretary’s Report: All in attendance reviewed the minutes from the October 5, 2015 meeting. A motion was made by Marcy Stefaniak to accept the minutes. Seconded by Carrie Bessette. All in favor, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Tabled

Ashley has asked that in the future we schedule the MAHA meetings after the first week of the month to allow her time to work on the financials.

State Rep Report: Karen stated she attended the first state meeting on October 13th. They stressed that all the coaches should have safesport and backgrounds completed. The team declarations need to be submitted by November 1st. We will be submitting the Peewees as A and B and the Squirts A and B teams.

Facility Report: The boards look great. We are looking into purchasing new scoreboards. They should be installed prior to the first high school game.

New Business:

Mites:Jeremy sent out a survey to see if parents agree or disagree with the mite program split equally rather than Major/Minor. Jeremy stated that it is only the first few weeks of games. After a lengthy discussion. Jeremy stated he will leave it up to the coach’sdiscretion if they want to split the teams either Major/Minor or equal depending on who they are playing.

Fundraising:

Coaches vs Cops : The Coaches vs. Cops game raised $984.00 for MAHA.

Calcutta: The MAHA Calcutta was a great success. The food was great, catered by Cold Hollow Catering.

Great American Savings Book: Jason stated that the orders are due by Sunday November 8th.

John Deere Tractor Raffle: Table

Metal Cabinets:Karen stated that she found metal cabinets for $350 each. Jeremy stated that he would like to order 2 cabinets. A motion was made by Carrie Bessette to have two metal cabinets ordered not to exceed $700.00. Seconded by Amy Parent. All in favor motion carried.

MAHA Clothing: Karen stated that we will have MAHA clothing sold by both Kevin Smiths and Grizzly Graphics this year. It will give families different options for different budgets.

Old Business:

Bantams: The merger will SASA fell through at the last minute and Milton stepped up and allowed our 8 players to merge with them. The MAHA players will be under the Milton name for this year and wear Milton jerseys. They will practice 3 times a week with MAHA paying for the Tuesday and Thursday practices and any games and refs that are played in Highgate. Most of their home games will be played at Gutterson. Jeremy wanted to be sure everyone knew that this was our last resort to keep these 8 players skating. A big Thank you goes out to Milton.

Other: Reminder the Parent Meetings will be held at the Highgate School library on November 5th. Karen suggested that we hold the Parent Meetings for all levels at MVU in the theater prior to the season to start next year.

A motion to adjourn the MAHA meeting was made by April Mathieu. Seconded by Amy Messier. All in favor motion carried.

There will be no December meeting. The next MAHA meeting will beon Monday, January 18,2016 at 6:30pm at the Highgate Arena Office.
