Mission Focused Board Meeting
- Mission is Front and Center.
- The mission statement is posted at meetings and on key documents.
- Tell Kid stories (better yet let kids tell their own stories)
- Relate board decisions back to mission.
- Create a Sense of Community.
- Know each other’s story.
- Make board meetings fun.
- Create virtual environments where the board is interacting outside of the boardroom.
- Prayer is more than opening and closing the meeting.
- Have a season of prayer in your meetings.
- Create non-board-meeting times of prayer.
- Keep prayer needs communicated to the board through out the month.
- Create a “Pride of Ownership” Amongst the Board.
- Proud of larger YFC movement. Expose the board to YFC outside of your town.
- Proud of the YFC work in your town.
- Visit sites.
- Give honest feedback to the ED.
- A Strong sense of ownership. (That’s my YFC!)
- When asking the board to make a decision, give them all the information needed to make that decision.
- The pronouns are “We, Our, and Us.”
- ED Effectiveness is more important than ED Comfort.
- Set your ED up to succeed.
- Have expectations clearly stated.
- Give corrective feedback in solution oriented statements.
- Don’t take their gifts for granted – continue to praise.
- If appropriate, place safety nets where needed.

- Allow all concerns about the ED to surface – better to have them on the table than hidden in the hearts of the board members.

- Board members above reproach in their personal and business lives.
- Business practices must be of the highest ethics.
- The safety of the kids comes first – always!
- The most mission for the dollar.
