Student/Parent/School Compact 2017-18

Mission Statement: Mission Early College High School will promote a highly rigorous environment to ensure that students earn a high school diploma as well as an Associate of Arts degree from El Paso Community College.

Student Responsibilities

I will:

q  Attend school daily and arriving to classes on time and ready to learn.

q  Bring all necessary supplies/materials needed for each class.

q  Complete and turn in assignments on time.

q  Deliver all communications from the school to the parent/guardian.

q  Pay attention, follow directions, and participate in class.

q  Respect administrators, teachers, support personnel, and peers.

q  Wear appropriate dress for school and conduct myself in accordance with MECHS/SISD/EPCC policies and procedures.

Parent / Guardian Responsibilities

We/I will:

q  Attend functions such as: parent nights, parent conferences, workshops/presentations, and other school activities with my son/daughter.

q  Cultivate positive relationship between school and home to meet the needs of my child by attending community meetings, parent conferences, school events, etc.

q  Encourage my child to participate in extra-curricular activities.

q  Ensure that my son/daughter attends school daily and arrives to school on time.

q  Ensure that my child follows MECHS/SISD/EPCC policies and procedures.

q  Establish learning a priority in my home by providing a safe and educational environment for my son/daughter.

q  Maintain contact by phone, e-mail, or in person with my child’s teachers regarding learning progress of my child.

q  Provide all necessary needed supplies/materials.

q  Respect administrators, teachers, support personnel, and peers.

q  Update contact information in a timely manner whenever changes occur.

School’s Responsibilities

We will:

q  Communicate the school’s mission, instructional goals, and district initiatives to parents annually.

q  Cultivate a positive relationship between school and home by allowing use of the school building for parent workshops, ESL classes, adult basic education classes, computer classes, etc., during and after regular school day.

q  Distribute information to parents including all MECHS/SISD/EPCC policies/procedures.

q  Inform parents on EOC/SAT/ACT strategies, test dates, and minimum requirements.

q  Post on the school web site and announce via telephone call system important school events and activities.

q  Provide opportunities for parent input (through meeting, surveys, questionnaires, etc.) regarding the educational climate in the building, district and school goals.

q  Provide a safe, clean, caring environment to learn.

q  Provide translation for parents who have limited English capabilities.

Teacher Responsibilities

I will:

q  Keep parents informed of student’s school progress.

q  Provide tutoring opportunities as needed.

q  Provide quality instruction that reflects recognized best practices.

q  Respect students, parent and community members.

q  Welcome participation in school functions, PTSA, and the volunteer program.
