Miss Golden’s Classroom Policies/Expectations

7th Grade English Language Arts

Welcome to 7th grade English Language Arts class! Mygoal is to provide you with enjoyable reading and writing experiences and useful strategies to improve your skills.

1. SUPPLIES NEEDED:

a. Three ring binder e. Lined loose leaf paper (reinforcements recommended)

b. Dividers f. Pens & pencils & highlighters

c. Sticky notes (Post-It notes) g. Agenda book(school issued)

d. Marble Composition Book h. Flash drive (optional but highly recommended)

Optional donations – a box of tissues for the classroom (school tissues are the worst!), hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, or any old, school appropriate magazines that you might have at home (thank you, thank you, thank you!!)

2. Expectations: You set the PACE for your school year.

- Personal Excellence: Be proactive. Show the best version of yourself at all times.

- Academic Excellence: Set high goals and believe in yourself. No excuses.

- Civic Excellence: Give back to your school, local, and global community.

3.RULES:

a. Be on time and PREPARED with assignments and reading book(s)/materials

b. Follow directions the first time they are given

c. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak

d. Change tasks quickly and quietly

e. Keep all comments positive

f. Be organized

– Keep handouts/worksheets accessible and neat

- Keep binder/folder tidy and presentable

g. No personal electronic devices will be allowed in the classroomwithout explicit permission.

h. Communicate with me—my door is always open

4. LATENESS:

a. Will be documented - 5 lates to class = after school detention

5. HOMEWORK:The amount of weekly homework will vary according to curriculum needs. Homework assignments will be displayed on the board and should be written in your agenda book.

a. Should be handed in on time

- Checked intermittently

- If homework is not brought to class, credit will not be given. Extremecircumstances will be

handled at teacher discretion

b. Credit will be awarded based on degree of completion and/or accuracy

c. Will be worth 10% of the overall grade

6.Make-up work (if absent from class):You are expected to complete make-up work in a timely fashion. It is your responsibility to find out what was covered. You should call someone from class (study buddy) or e-mail me to get the information. In addition, you should get in the habit of checking in with your teachers during homeroom on the day you return to school.

- Find a responsible study buddy who will collect material, assignments,& knowledge if you are

not present for class

- Students absent on a due date are expected to turn in assignment the day they return

from their absence or a late policy will go into effect

- In the event of an extended absence from school preceding the due date,the student is

responsible for making arrangements with the teacher asto when the work will be due

7. GRADING:

a. Assignments will be given a point value

b. Your grade will consist of the following:

- Assessments - Written pieces

- Homework - Class work

- Projects - Journals

- Essays - Responsibility Points(being prepared)

- Classroom Participation

c. Conduct and Effort are areas that are considered as well

d. A project/assignment handed in late will result in 10% reduction of grade.
