North Penn High School

2016-2017

Welcome:

Greetings students! My name is Miss Anthony and I will be your health teacher for this school year. Outlined in the syllabus are the classroom procedures, expectations, discipline procedures, and grading policy.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me:

*I teach at both the High School and Pennfield Middle School. The best and fastest way to contact me would be by email.*

Class Procedures:

1.You will begin most of your classes with a “Health Question of the Day”. You will answer the question in your health journal.

Health journal could be a notebook, a section in a notebook, pieces of paper dedicated to answering these questions…etc.

2.The objective, assignments and/or directions will be on the board at the start of class. You are expected to immediately begin working when you arrive to class on the specified assignment.

3.You may sign out for the bathroom or water fountain:

  • Before class starts
  • When you are done class work
  • During independent work
  • At the discretion of the teacher

* Unless it is an emergency, do not ask to leave at any other time*

4.If you have a pass to leave during class, give the pass to the teacher at the beginning of class. You are responsible for any missed work.

Grading Policy:

  1. Your health grade is determined by your total points earned during the marking period on tests, quizzes, projects, class work, group work, and homework.
  1. You are responsible for making up work missed when absent from class. You are also responsible for finding out what was missed, and what needs to be completed.
  1. If absence is unanticipated, check the website before returning from absence for missed work.
  1. If you lose your notes, a homework worksheet, or any other assignment you are responsible for, please access my teacher website and print out the file that you need and complete it.
  1. Home Access Center (HAC) – Home Access Center allows a parents/guardians and students to access grades, schedule and attendance information online. Please note that assignments will be graded and recorded in a reasonable amount of time. Major projects and papers require a longer timeline for grading.
  1. The comprehensive final exam at the end of the year is 16% of the students’ final grade.
  1. The grading scale used is as follows:

Grade Earned / Numeric Range
A+ / 97 – 100
A / 90 – 96
B+ / 87 – 89
B / 80 – 86
C+ / 77 – 79
C / 70 – 76
D / 65 – 69
E/F / Below 65
(marking period
grades only)
  1. The final marking period grade will be determined by dividing the total earned points by the total points for that marking period. (Example: Total points possible = 150; Total points earned = 124; 124/150 = 82.6%)
