ACTION
1 / Apologies for Absence
Hedley Greaves, Craig Notman, John Boyle. Harry Potter, Alex Kidd, Graham Davey
2 / Minutes of previous meeting
2 Amendments raised. Denis Higgins was missed off the attendance list. Craig Notman sent in some comments regarding the European volumetric test vs. the soaked CBR. These have been included in an amended set of minutes and circulated to the SSTG membership.
3 / Matters Arising not covered elsewhere
DJ confirmed that Geofirma had offered to host the next meeting. Contractor member attendance and commitment was again questioned as only 2 contractor representatives were present.
4 / Health & Safety
There was a comment that (cement) drivers had been observed not wearing safety glasses on site. It was raised that safety goggles should be the minimum eye protection requirement for any personnel in the vicinity of a pressurised powder tank discharge.
SF is to draft a short bullet point safety guide for the delivery and receipt of bulk pressurised powders into spreaders and on-site silos. This will be circulated for comments before being put on to the website.

6.2 Remediation & Contamination Committee - CC Chairman
CC presented the EA Factsheet on Contaminated Soils – Treating non-hazardous waste for landfill.
This document deals with wastes which will be sent to landfill. There are a number of negative statements regarding stabilisation/solidification, however it is important to remember that the first choice should always be re-use on site.
There is a strong message that the contractor should reach a decision whether the site will generate a waste or whether material will be re-used on site and advise the EA accordingly. Dig and dump should be the last choice.
Individual contractors should make a risk based decision. Britpave does not have a position regarding this issue.
It was agreed that CC would draft a letter to the EA from Britpave regarding the factsheet.
6.3 Technical R&D (including HA update) Committee - CN Chairman
No report. No members in attendance. It was agreed that DH would contact CN to review the committee membership and to prompt a meeting to be held.
