Business Meeting 10 March 2004

  • The format for reviewing NC projects was discussed. All were satisfied with the current process and it was decided that we would again review projects via a conference call in January 2005.
  • The committee discussed the current format for the annual business meeting. All were again satisfied and it was decided that we would again plan on meeting in WashingtonDC in conjunction with the AAVMC annual meeting. The meetings with USDA were considered very beneficial to both NCA-2 and the USDA and we would again plan for a half day to full day meeting with them next year. This year, other AAVMC research deans were invited as well; this seemed to be a positive change and it was suggested we do the same next year.
  • NCT 188, Mycobacterial Diseases were discussed; in light of Dr. Jack Schmitz e-mailed comments. This project simply has not flourished. NCA-2 recommends our administrative advisor (Don Reynolds) pass this on to NCRA.
  • The NCA-2 committee would like to formally congratulate Dr. Jack Schmitz on his pending retirement form the University of Nebraska, thank him for past service to the NCA-2 committee and wish him the best for the future.
  • Elections: no elections this year. Next year (2005) Dr. Bert Stromberg rotates to chairman and a new secretary will be elected.
