MINUTE 6/9/2005 WELCOME REMARKS

The chairperson welcomed members to the meeting at 9.40 am. She made special welcome remarks to the new members namely Joyce Mphaya, Theresa Mwale, Dorothy Lazaro and Mr H.E.L. Kaladzu.

MINUTE 7/9/2005 INTRODUCTION OF MEMBERS

Members made self introductions.

MINUTE 8/9/2005 ADOPTION OF AGENDA

The agenda was adopted without amendments.

MINUTE 9/9/2005 READINNG OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

Previous minutes were read and adopted as true reflection of what was discussed in the previous meeting.

MINUTE 10/9/2005 MATTERS ARISING

  1. Members added Baila Leigh on the list of apologies.
  1. Members agreed that the EMOC summary should be in in English only as opposed to what previously agreed of having it in Chichewa as well.
  2. Baila Leigh indicated that summary of EMOC was finalized and submitted to DDCS for RH.

MINUTE 11/9/2005 REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES

(a)Publicity Committee

  1. It was reported that the committee met on 9/9/2005.
  2. The sub –committee reported that they recasted the theme.
  3. The main committee changed the English theme to : M.M.Dis Preventable,No More Silence, Act Now while the Chichewa version was agreed to beCheteChete Sautsa Nyama, Titha Kupewa Imfa za Amai Apakati, Tichite Kanthu tsopano.
  4. The chosen posters were presented and committee members corrected some of them.
  5. Members suggested to add a PMTCT and Nenatal posters.
  6. On Media pack,

members commented that each flayer should have one language.

Fact sheet for parliamentarians should have some information for roads improvement.

The committee also suggested to develop a fact sheet for Health Workers which may have a component on transport issues for clients as well as a fact sheet for neonates.

  1. A publicity budget was presented and members

adopted it.

(b) Protocol Subcommittee

The committee presented the following:

Members were asked to submit comments by Monday 18th September, 2005 so that the EMOC summary can be sent for print. It was reported the document will be printed under UNFPA

The theme poster should be on the front pages of Road map report and summary of EMOC

Members were reminded that the launch is for the Road map.

It was reported that the launch may not be on 10/10/2005 as previously agreed but members were urged to continue preparing.

Members hinted that it is not easy to plan and implement two big launches as such, members agreed to launch the road map and implement scale activities for Mothers Day Commemoration.

Activities for Mothers day commemoration were agreed to be the following:

  1. Panel Discussion and the following should be on the panel: UNFPA, WHO, UNICEF, Secretary for Health, Minister for Health, T/A Mkanda.
  2. Radio programmes like radio jingles using the existing messages.

It was reported that the new venue is Kamuzu Institute for Youth since NRC was booked by other patrons until December,2005.

Protocol subcommittee budget was not finalized because of no proper hand overs.

RHU to contact the panelists

RHU to prepare Minister’s speech

Publicity committee to agree on on the theme and messages for the Mothers Day

29/9/2005 should be date for Mothers Day committee meeting

27/10/ 2005 should be the new date for the launch of road map.
