Parents/carers are welcome to claim petrol expenses for LIG meetings. Please ask Flo for information and form if you wish to claim.

We agreed to keep the mileage rate at 40 pence per mile.

Jan is taking early retirement in the summer so she will be standing down as Chair of the LIG. Anyone interested in the post, please email Flo or Jan. Flo sent a note no the 25.5.2016 about what the role is. We will be holding elections at the next LIG meeting. All applications to Flo please (by email if possible) latest 15th June, 12 noon.

We might also need a new venue at some point as the group is getting fairly large. Flo will have a look around.

Direct Payment from Independent Lives – Teresa Burnage

Independent Lives are contracted by HCC to handle Direct Payments for anyone who needs that help.

A Direct Payment is a payment from the local authority (Social Services) or the NHS (this type ofDirect Payment is called a Personal Health Budget ).

A Direct Payment ismade directly to the person so that they can buy care and support services.

Direct Payments allow the person to make their own decisions about how care and support is delivered, giving more flexibility and greater choice and control over their life.

Many people who receive a Direct Payment choose to directly employ Personal Assistants who provide care and support in their home. Other people use their Direct Payment to buy agency care services.

A team of advisers are available via phone, text and email from 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday.

A recruitment service is available which means that checks can be made without giving personal information. DBC checks can be done as well.

There is a managing service is someone struggles with paperwork and internal payroll can be used as well. Criteria needs to be made in certain cases so please check!

Hampshire county council day services (internal) and safer Place scheme – Tracey Carus

New Milton:

Launchpad is now working well with people based in the community (via community link, next to library). They moved there on the 4th April. Currently there is no telephone/computer BUT they are working on it right as we speak. A few teething problems but generally service users have settled well and people are busy in the community and are not spending as much time in the building.

There will be an open day in June.

There is a sensory room, a big room for arts/crafts/music sessions and a big changing Place facility.

There is no space to extend the building currently. They are missing a partner but working with the library.

Romsey and Waterside:

Launchpad process in September/October. This will be the second to last unit to go through transformation so the process should be fairly straight forward.

A newsletter to parents/carers has now been sent. There are taster days and information days for service users. There will be a lot of communication to parents/carers until Christmas and the process of person centred planning should start around that time too.

People should be left safe to be on Launchpad.

Ophelia asked about the Romsey satellite. No decision as yet but decision will be made on need.

The team is still looking for a keystone building in Totton. Saying this, they have now exhausted all current possibilities in Totton and are looking a little bit further afield (Romsey?). If you know of anything, please speak to Tracey and the team. There is no deadline to close the building but it is looking a little bit tired.

Safer Place scheme: Tracey said that the scheme will be revitalised. It is also vital for people on Launchpad to have this safety net. Tracey is working with a small team of people. She should have more news in September.

They will also work with on secret shoppers (maybe not so secret now!)

Thoughts from Jill: link to dementia friendly would be a good idea. Link to health (autism and so forth) might be also good.

Transforming care partnership (TCP) – Michelle Stickland and Louise Osborne

See presentation from Michelle.

We also did a small workshop.

We agreed:

·  Being near shops

·  Being near friends and family

·  Having a bungalow and a garden

Michelle is working on capital and revenue bids. We will know by end of June if the money is coming forward.

Anything else:

Referendum on 23rd June. We gave some easy read information at the meeting.

The self advocacy day on 19th May was very well attended. It was in Winchester. Graham Allen, Jess Hutchinson and Cllr Fairhurst all went.

Music festival has been cancelled. Maybe next year…. Hal is working on it. Maybe it should be a one day festival to begin with and then extend it if all well.

Kym said that LD week is 20th June. Is anyone doing anything? Mencap is.

Jill would like dentistry at the next meeting. Flo will see what she can do with Michelle and book contract manager as soon as feasible.

Rita would like Client Affairs Team (CAT) to come (we are looking at 23rd November; to be confirmed).
