MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT BELLINGHAM TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY 22 AUGUST 2017

Present: Edwin Wilkinson, Ken Gaskin, Joanne Roberts, Ruth Everatt, Brian Tilley, William Wilkinson and Monica Tasker.

1. Apologies: Pat Wilkinson, Bill Burlton and Jamie Rickelton.

2. Minutes of July Meeting: These were agreed to be a true record proposed by Ken, seconded by Brian.

3. Matters Arising

Edwin enquired if there has been any further contact with Janet Cresswell, and was informed that Janet is setting up a table at the Bellingham Show and at the Arts & Craft Fair on 2 September to enquire from the public as to what events would be good to hold at the Town Hall and will forward her feedback.

Tour of Britain Cycling Event: Following discussion it was decided to open the hall at 9am for the sale of tea and coffee and cake at the charge of £1.50. Edwin will purchase the cakes and everyone will help on the day. Painted bicycles have been put onto the hall externally and there are 13 more to be put up in the village. It was agreed to meet on Wednesday 30th at 10.30 to set up the hall and to help with Joanne’ flags and bunting. The tables can be put out ready for the Art & Craft Fair.

New Room – Edwin reported that the doorway has been knocked through and a new door put in situ and Neil will finish the floor. Ken has been able to lock the door between the kitchen and the new room, and will put on a Yale lock.

Website – Joanne & Monica now have right of administration and have made the changes and updates to the website, and will continue to make future updates. The committee thanked them

Windfarm Funding Application – Joanne has sent off the application for funding for a new sound system to be put into the hall.

Tower Clock– Edwin reported that the clock has been put in place and is now working. Monica said that the Coop funding for this cost has been sent off, and Monica was asked to chase up the insurance as we have not heard anything further.

4. Treasurer’s Report – Joanne reported on the accounts and said that the Library has paid the last bill; first instalment has been paid for the new room; there are 10 bookings for the Arts & Crafts Fair; the Bank mandate has been sent; that the water bill needs to be queried; received two donations in respect of Eleanor Thompson’s funeral; has paid the Country Store bill, has paid Edwin for new emergency light; has paid for the website hosting, and the advert has been booked.

5. Any other business:

Joanne said that she has received a quote for new curtains and rails. After discussion it was decided to leave this in abeyance.

Joanne has received a request from the PRS music licence to attend the next event with music regarding, and it was agreed to invite them to the WI birthday in November or the Drama play in December.

Joanne asked if anyone could place posters for the Arts & Crafts Fair in Otterburn, Wark and Woodburn, and Ruth has kindly offered to do this.

Edwin said that we have a new butcher in the village and has asked if he is happy to keep the spare key for the hall, and this is agreeable.

As there was no other business, the meeting closed at 7.26pm. The next meeting is on Tuesday 5 September 2017 at 6.30pm.
