Minutes of AGM Terenure College RFC

Apologies:Donal Hyland, Mick Jordan, Des Lamont, Bosco Morrissey

Michael Roche (Chair) noted that a quorum had been reached (attendance 58 members) and appropriate notice served so the meeting opened.

The minutes from the previous AGM (16 June 2016) were read and adopted - proposed by Ritchie Hatch and seconded by Mags Maguire.

The Hon Secretary’s report was read and adopted - proposed by Declan O’Sullivan Jnr and seconded by Brian Bru Byrne.The report acknowledged the funding of a grant of €25000 from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport under the Sports Capital Programme 2015. This funding was used to for the purchase of a tractor and dugouts.

The Hon Treasurer’s report was read. As the accounts have not yet been audited the accounts and report will be adopted at a reconvened AGM when the accounts have been audited. Audited accounts for year 2015/16 were adopted on a show of hands.

The Chairman of Rugby’s report (Brian Colgan) and the Chairman of Mini/Youths Rugby report (Paul Murphy)were read and adopted – proposed by Tom Moloney and seconded by Declan O’Sullivan Snr. Brian thanked Kim Moloney for her dedicated and important work on legal matters regarding disciplinary and associated matters. He stressed the need for more volunteers in the club. Paul referred to the tremendous team work and effort put in by parents, coaches under mini rugby. He praised Bernard Molloy and his team for the enormous success of the Tigers special needs team. Women’s rugby is gathering pace and we have now 30 girls registered in the club. The under 13 Festival was agreat success thanks to its committee chairman James Nolan and his team. John Keating gave great service regarding car parking duties and the members of the first and second team squads in particular James Thornton were thanked for their assistance to the minis.President Paddy Rala O’Reilly presented the Liam O’Dea award to Paddy Fitzmaurice. He also made a presentation to Barry Murphy in recognition of his tremendous commitment to the club as bag manager to the first team squad over a period of 14 years.

  4. Hon Secretary: Pat Jordan proposed by Paddy Rala O’Reilly and seconded by Bernard Molloy
  5. Hon Treasurer: John Cadell proposed by Donal Cronin and seconded by James Nolan
  6. Election of two ordinary members to Management Committee:
  • Mags Maguire proposed by Pat Jordan and seconded by Paul Mackay
  • Will Moore proposed by Brian Colgan and seconded by Paddy Fitzmaurice
  1. Election of Trustees: Declan O’Sullivan Snr, Colm Jenkinsonand Frank Gildea proposed by the Management Committee and seconded by Peter Hegarty
  2. Election of Club Captain for 2017/18: Robbie Smythproposed by the Club Council and seconded by James Nolan

Rala our outgoing President stated that being President was the highlight of his career. He would do his very best to represent the club in New Zealand with the Lions.

AOB:Arthur Fitzpatrick on behalf of all club members thanked our outgoing Hon Treasurer Donal Cronin for his sterling service. Michael Roche (chairman) thanked the management committee and all volunteers in the club. He also thanked our Secretary Manager Fiona Hicks, Bar manager Peter Dignam and staff and wished our new groundsman John O’Connor well in his career in the club.

Incoming President Tom Moloney thanked Rala for attending the AGM given his busy schedule with the Lions. He thanked our sponsors and outgoing Hon Treasurer Donal Cronin. He outlined objectives for the club viz: a 5 year plan to combat hard core debt; supply all support needed by all rugbyteams and resources for the first team squad. More volunteers are needed for the forthcoming season.

As there was no further business the Chairman thanked everyone for attending and the meeting concluded.
