MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

OF THE CITY OF ST. MARTINVILLE, LOUISIANA

HELD ON THE6THDAY OF FEBRUARY, 2017.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of St. Martinville, Louisiana met in Regular Session on the6th day of February, 2017 at City Hall, theirregular meeting place, pursuant to the call of the Mayor.

THERE were present:Thomas Nelson, Mayor

Mike Fuselier, Councilman

Craig Prosper, Councilman

Dennis Williams, Councilman

Debra Landry, Councilwoman

Margaret C. Robertson, Councilwoman

Allan L. Durand, City Attorney

THERE were absent:None

Mayor Thomas Nelson presiding, called the meeting to order.

Upon motion of Debra Landry duly seconded by Craig Prosper and unanimously carried that the minutes of the regular meeting held January 17, 2017hereby be approved as written and prepared for publication in the Teche News, the Official Journal of the City of St. Martinville.

Upon motion of Margaret Robertsonduly seconded by Debra Landryand unanimously carried that the bills to be paid by the City Finance Committee hereby be approved for payment.

Upon motion of Mike Fuselier duly seconded by Margaret Robertson and unanimously carried that permission be hereby granted for Notre Dame Sisters in Christ to hold a red light drive on Saturday, April 1, 2017 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Upon request of Ms. Ann Mitchell of SMILE Headstart Program, it was moved by Debra Landry duly seconded by Margaret Robertson and unanimously carried that permission be hereby granted to hold the annual Easter Parade on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

Mr. Walter Bourque, property owner of 519 Lewis Street, was present at the meeting and stated that he is working to clean up his yard. No action was taken on this item.

Upon motion of Mike Fuselier duly seconded by Margaret Robertson and unanimously carried that the discussion of the mobile home owned by John Robinson, located at 309 Lewis Street, be tabled until future meeting due to recent email communication from Mr. Robinson stating his intention to make necessary repairs.

Upon written approval of Planning & Zoning Commission, it was moved by Margaret Robertson duly seconded by Debra Landry and unanimously carried that the zoning variance requested by Quindale Smothersto place a mobile home at502 Gov. Mouton with a rear yard of 5 feet rather than the 20 feet as required by City Zoning Ordinance, be hereby granted.

Upon written approval of Planning & Zoning Commission, it was moved by Mike Fuselier duly seconded by Craig Prosper and unanimously carried that the zoning variance requested by Bertha Bernardto place a mobile home at132 Longfellow Street with a rear yard of 15 feet rather than the 20 feet as required by City Zoning Ordinance, be hereby granted.

Upon written approval of Planning & Zoning Commission, it was moved by Craig Prosper duly seconded by Dennis Williams and unanimously carried that the zoning variance requested by Greg Stoutes to locate a business at 210 Teresa Street in a Residential-1 area, be hereby granted.

Upon motion of Debra Landry duly seconded by Magaret Robertson and unanimously carried that Ms. Hazel Aubry be appointed as Board Member on the Resident Board Member of the Housing Authority of the Town of St. Martinville to fill the unexpired term of Ms. Angie Rangel, which began on July 14, 2014 and expires July 14, 2019.

There being no further business to come before the Mayor and City Council, Mayor Thomas Nelson adjourned the meeting upon motion of Craig Prosperduly seconded by Debra Landry.
